COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION, UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE, AND PIPELINE INDUSTRIES.
Whether connecting cities, commercial developments or expanding existing highway, Mega World Builder can generate a solution to get rock out of your way and your utility in the ground. With widths from 18” up to 96” and depths up to 40’, we have the machines to handle all trenching needs. Widths and depths are modeled to ensure you get the trenching exactly the way your project requires it. Mega World Builder utilize 3D GPS controls to hold horizontal alignment and vertical grade which reduces your bedding waste and prevent damage to existing lines or structures.
Micro tunnelling allows quick work to be made of the toughest soils and longest distance drives. In micro tunnelling hydraulic jacks are used to push pipes through the ground behind a tunnel closed slurry circuit machine at the same time as excavation is taking place within the shield. The method provides a flexible, structural, watertight, finished pipeline as the tunnel is excavated. Mega World Builder utilizes several AVN slurry full face excavation machines with a hydraulic slurry circuit. The soil to be excavated is removed using a cutter wheel (head) adapted to the respective geology. This makes it possible to use the machines in almost all geological conditions. In soft soils and mixed geologies, standard or mixed ground cutter wheels are used, while a rock cutter wheels with disc cutters is used for tunnelling in stable rock formations. A cone-shaped crusher inside the excavation chamber crumbles stones and other obstructions to a conveyable grain size while tunnelling and advancing. Afterwards, the material falls through openings similar to a strainer in front of the suction port and is then removed through the slurry line together with the slurry suspension.
Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is a cost-effective alternative to open excavation and an essential tool in today’s environmentally sensitive construction industry. Whether it’s laying a utility distribution line under a major city, a transmission line under a sensitive wetland, or a gas line beneath a river, minimal impact is our goal.
Mega World Builder has grown with the directional drilling industry to provide cutting-edge technology that eliminates guesswork, improves safety and ensures the most efficient job sites. Technology to drill developed areas without disturbing the surface is our specialty, and our team has the expertise to successfully complete the job.
We bring precision and pride of workmanship to every project, and our job sites are among the safest and most well organized in the industry. As soil and rock are extracted from the bore, they are quickly contained and removed. At every site, we operate within as tight a space as safety permits creating minimal disruption to traffic and neighborhoods.
Our horizontal directional drilling (HDD) supervisors have a minimum of 15 years’ experience with directional drilling techniques. Our employees are the best in the trenchless industry and bring a professional, positive attitude and driven work ethic to every job. Our team takes pride in overcoming challenges and solving problems We are dedicated to protecting the environment and operating in compliance with environmental regulations.
When we use HDD to install telecommunication lines, our equipment has a small footprint, which means minimal disruption to traffic, create pilot holes to accommodate the conduit to bore pathway, then verify its position to complete the job and restore the worksite to its original condition.
They’re often hidden from sight, underground or underwater. But pipelines play a critical role in our infrastructure. They’re part of complex systems that impact our everyday lives.
Pipelines are used to transport materials such as water, oil, and natural gas. They’re also a prominent part of sanitary sewer systems. In addition, pipelines are used for electricity and fiber-optic cable for Internet and telecommunications. Like any capital construction project, pipe laying is a multi-step process. It involves planning, the core project and various finishing tasks — all of which require construction equipment.
Pipeline laying and connecting is a complex process that involves careful planning and coordination. It typically includes the following steps:
Planning
Consider factors such as pipe materials, diameter, route selection, and connectivity. Crews also need to determine how much footage they can construct each day, which helps determine how many workers are needed.
Excavation
Dig a trench that’s wide enough to avoid coating damage when lowering in the pipe, and deep enough to provide adequate cover when buried. In some cases, drilling and blasting may be required to remove rock obstructions.
Pipe placement
Lay pipes above ground next to the trench, or within the trench on top of sandbags in steep terrain. Use a pipe bending tool to bend certain sections of pipe to follow the planned route and terrain.
Jointing
Weld the pipe sections together, sand blast them, and coat the weld joints with epoxy to prevent corrosion. Use non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, such as X-ray, to inspect the welds for defects.
Backfilling
Lower the connected lengths of pipe into the trench. Federal regulations require that transmission pipelines be buried at least 30 inches below the surface in rural areas, and deeper in more populated areas.
Horizontal auger boring, also referred to as jack-and-bore is a trenchless method to install steel casing from a launch shaft to a reception shaft with excavation done via a rotating cutterhead driven by a series of augers inside the casing pipe. The excavated material is removed through the auger string that is powered by the auger boring machine in the launch shaft.
Mega World Builder pilot tubes guided auger boring systems produce all-in-one packages for guided or un-guided casing installations.
